Home Grown

Ron and I have a little garden. Well, Ron does. We have three tomato plants, not sure what brand they are, three cherry tomato plants that are the bomb, and three yellow sweet pepper plants. It's a start at farming.

As for the big tomatoes, we've only had a few harvested so far and they've been ok. The cherry tomatoes are so sweet, it's like popping candy! I'm telling you, they are the bomb! We could stand out at the plants and eat them as fast as we pick them off of the vine. The sweet yellow peppers, we had no clue about. They sure did look like green peppers for a long time and I thought that perhaps the sticker was mismarked on the plants.

Ron did some research on the internet to find out that they are green peppers left to ripen longer on the vine they will turn into the sweet yellow peppers. Awesome! Who'd have thought? I'm not a big fan of green peppers, but any other color of pepper I love.

The other night, Ron picked the first of the yellow peppers. The first dish we chose to jazz up with our home grown peppers was some brats with fried peppers and onions. WOW!

The brats were just fried up in a pan, and the onions and peppers were mixed with a dash of olive oil, some salt and pepper, and then added liberally to our brats. There was a lot of lip smacking going on at dinner at our house! Holy cow, they were so awesome.

You just can't buy them like that at the store. Don't be surprised if our whole yard turns into a garden next year. I think we're getting the hang of this farming stuff!
